Part 2

The mood in the Tan household was sombre. The Tan children stared at the dinning table in awe. Their mother had prepared all their favourite food. Although Liyun and Fuqiang were thrilled with the menu, they couldn't help noticing how sad their parents look.

"Mummy and daddy," said Liyun. "Is something wrong?"

Casting a knowing glace at her husband, Mrs Tan replied, "No dear. Just eat your food and go to bed early." There was a long silence after that. Little did their childern know that this would be their last meal that night. Their parents who had both made the painful decision to go through this, had decided that the children need not be burdened with the details.

As dinner went on, the clock ticked the minutes by. The planned hour was due soon.
